My name is Saurya Karmacharya.

The first thing I ever made was a poem. A few clumsy lines about a feeling I had no other way to say. I crossed out more words than I kept, and when I was done, the page held something I couldn’t hold on my own. I didn’t know it then, but that was the beginning of everything I do now.

The poems turned into drawings. Drawing taught me to slow down, to sit with a face or a shadow long enough to see what was really there. Then a camera found its way into my hands, and it didn’t feel like learning something new. It felt like I had finally found a way to show people what I had been seeing all along. Film came next, and it gave those still moments a heartbeat.

My life has moved the same way, one frame to the next. I was born in Nepal, grew up at a boarding school in Darjeeling, India, and made my home in the United States. Every move made me a stranger for a while, and being a stranger teaches you to listen. I learned that every place and every person carries a story worth hearing.

So I went looking for the whole craft. I studied Film and Television at Full Sail University, then went back for a Master’s in Entertainment Business. One taught me how to make someone feel. The other taught me how to build work that lasts.

Today I’m inspired by people: the things they carry, the feelings they rarely put into words, the quiet moments that shape who they become. Whether I’m producing a film, photographing an athlete or shaping a campaign for a brand, I’m searching for the same thing. Something true.

That is what creating means to me. It is still that kid crossing out words until only the honest ones are left. It is making something that asks you to pause, to feel, and to carry a little of it with you when you go. This is only the beginning. The best stories are still ahead.
